Eva Marie is the eldest child of Italian father Barry and Mexican mother Josie Nelson. There are three brothers older than her with names like Nathan Neal and Nick. Her birthplace and childhood was in Concord California. As a young girl, she was aspiring to become a professional soccer player. However, in 2002 when she was in the senior year of her high school, she was struck by an ankle fracture. The injury healed and she continued to play in the striker position at Diablo Valley College in Pleasant Hill California in which she received an associate's degree in art. She received Junior College All-American honors and moved onto Arizona State University where self-doubt caused her to quit playing soccer. Her next stop was California State University Fullerton. When she graduated with a Bachelors of Arts diploma in business administration, and an additional human resource degree moving into Los Angeles. Her move into Los Angeles after completing her studies in order to pursue a modeling, acting, and promotional career. When she was searching for work and came across an advertisement for casting at W.W.E. by chance and after impressing talent scouts, she got a chance to try out for the four-week period. She then moved to Orlando, Florida where she began her training in The Performance Center of the company. In May 2013 she joined The Total Divas W.W.E Reality T.V. show. Her hair was dyed red, and took on her ring's name Eva Marie. W.W.E. was not without its challenges. She quit her W.W.E. anymore.
